Global voice biometrics market players Nok Nok Labs and AGNITIO launch the first ever FIDO ready voice biometrics products
Two of the co-founders of the FIDO Alliance, Nok Nok Labs and AGNITIO, have announced that they will now be retailing FIDO ready devices, which will fall within the Universal Authentication Framework protocol. AGNITIO are currently the only company in the global voice biometrics market that offer a FIDO ready product that has the Universal Authentication Framework (UAF) protocol.
"This partnership with AGNITIO is a major step on the path towards a more secure online environment that meets the needs of deploying organizations and users," said Phillip Dunkelberger, CEO of Nok Nok Labs. "Now that the FIDO Alliance has released its final 1.0 specifications, we expect to see accelerated momentum. Offerings such as this voice biometric capability that combine ease of use and security will help to overcome the deficiencies of the insecure username/password scheme."
One of the key benefits that offering a product that comes FIDO ready is that the user can use a number of biometric methods to confirm their true identity, therefore offering a true password less environment. If the user requires FIDO UAF can also offer multi factor authentication, to increase the amount of security that is required to access certain devices.
The global voice biometrics market is expected to reach total sales of US$4.7bn by 2020, thanks to strong growth in the United States market that has grown significantly due to the increasing need to improve security levels in a number of industries such as banking, defence and health care. The European voice biometrics market has also seen rapid growth, as governments across the region are working to provide biometric IDs to all residents.
The Asia-Pacific voice biometrics market is growing at the fastest pace, with a projected CAGR of over 20% until 2020. However, the United States is still expected to remain the largest region globally. Products in the global voice biometrics market have an edge over other identification systems, such as fingerprinting, as there is no need to make physical contact between the individual and device.
One of the future trends that the global voice biometrics market is forecast to see will be its adoption as a commercial user authentication system in a number of customer facing programmes. A great deal of new policies and regulations that govern online transactions are expected to boost this market, as they dictate that security should be improved when customers access bank websites.
